Gary McAndrew

As the Owner/President of McAndrew Search Group, Gary brings over 35 years of experience in Human Resources and 11 years of Executive Search experience. Gary worked in the Insurance, Publishing and Banking industries before starting McAndrew Search Group (previously called McM Search Group) in 2019. In addition to recruiting, Gary provides consulting to companies in the areas of Strategic Planning and Human Resources.

Gary grew up in Northeast Iowa and brings a great business perspective to recruiting because of his HR experience and is able to act as a consultant in helping HR departments find the best candidates possible. He is honest and trustworthy and will work tirelessly until each search is completed successfully.

Gary lives in Peosta, Iowa with his wife Cheri. Gary has been an active volunteer in his community, including serving on the Western Dubuque Community School Board, the Western Dubuque Booster Club, the Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) Foundation Board, the Bobcat Foundation Board, the Hospice Board, 100 Men Who Care and the Optimist Club. Gary received the SHRM designation of SPHR in 1992 and has been involved with SHRM since 1992.

In his spare time Gary enjoys watching all sports - especially any sport the Iowa Hawkeyes are playing. Gary enjoys playing golf and volunteers as a PA announcer for baseball, basketball and football games for Western Dubuque High School.

As a Full Desk Recruiter with McAndrew Search Group, I bring over 5+ years of expertise in both recruiting and business development. I specialize in mid-to-upper level technical and management roles within the manufacturing, industrial, civil and construction fields. Prior to joining McAndrew Search Group, I spent over 2+ years recruiting skilled trades professionals, including welders, maintenance technicians, diesel mechanics, machinists, carpenters, millwrights and foreman.

Growing up in Western Dubuque and earning my business degree from the University of Northern Iowa, I've called Eastern Iowa home my whole life. My deep roots in my community fuel my passion for building strong, authentic connections with both candidates and clients. I strive to differentiate myself by focusing on the human side of recruiting, and understanding each individual's and organizations long-term goals to create lasting matches.

I possess a strong understanding of the unique challenges and needs of the industries I serve. With a proven track record of sourcing and placing top talent, I am committed to delivering exceptional service and fostering meaningful relationships.

Outside of work, I am an active member of the Epworth community and have volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2020. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, hanging out with friends and family, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs!
